Report a problem

Most errors have Report this beside them: in the app and the desktop app, on the phone and tablet, and on the TV. It opens the report so you see everything it sends before it goes, with room to say what you were doing. Nothing is sent until you send it.

A report says what went wrong and where: the error and its code, the page or screen, the app and its version, and the device's system. When you're connected to a computer, it adds that computer's Toskar version, its operating system, processor, memory, and graphics. An Admin's report also has the computer's last 40 warnings and errors from its log; a Member's doesn't, and a Visitor's leaves out the computer entirely.

Before you see it, the report has email addresses, keys and tokens, and the name in home-folder paths taken out, and internet addresses replaced by their kind, such as public IPv4; the computer's part also has the computer's name taken out. Addresses on your home network stay, since they help and say nothing about where you are, and so do IDs that match the report to a log. Read it before sending; take out anything else you'd rather not share.

In the app and the desktop app, Send gives the report to the Toskar team through your computer, and it becomes an issue they can fix, kept private. If others hit the same error in the same version, yours is added to theirs, and the report says so. Include details, on unless you turn it off, adds the computer's part; an email address you add, for a reply, goes only to the Toskar team, never into the issue. Each report sent is listed in What left this computer.

When it can't be sent that way, such as with no internet connection, Send by email opens your own email app with the same report to info@yeix.io, and you can always choose Or send it by email instead. The phone, tablet, and TV send by email for now. A long report drops its oldest log lines to fit in an email.

The TV has no email app, so its report shows a code: scan it with your phone's camera and the email opens there. On the watch, Report on phone hands the problem to the phone, and the report shows the next time you open Toskar there.

Toskar doesn't send reports, crash data, or usage data on its own. A report leaves only when you send it, and only what it showed you. An Admin can turn off sending reports to Toskar in Settings, under Problem reports; then Report this only copies the report, to give to whoever runs Toskar.

To report an answer rather than a problem, such as a wrong or offensive one, use Report this answer under it on the phone or tablet. It works the same way: your email app opens with the report.
